The product from Shooting Sports Innovations that combines a thumb rest with the slide stop. Fits STI/SV 2011 guns. Machined out of a solid piece of 17-4 stainless steel. Available in black nitride, polished, or satin finish. In most cases, all you have to do is replace your current slide stop with the Nitro Fin and you're done. No drilling and tapping required as with other gas pedals and thumb rests. Price is $120 which is less than the cost of a quality slide stop, thumb rest, drill, tap, and installation.
Notes and Precautions:
The Pin size is 0.199.
Nitro Fin is generally a drop in part for 2011 guns. Some fitting may be required for 1911s.
Slide lock does lock the slide back manually, but does not automatically on the last round. (Top Level Gunsmith Feature)
Check your current slide lock for pin size and straightness, comparing it to the Nitro Fin pin 0.199 size. I have seen a custom 2011 STI whose barrel was fitted to a bent 0.195 diameter pin. When the Nitro Fin was installed, the barrel would prematurely lock up the barrel hood before going into battery. This hopefully isn't going to happen to you, but do use caution, test fitting it before test firing at the range. The Nitro Fin by design fits close inside the slide lock relief of the frame, some gun smith work may be required in some applications.
It is recommended you drill your own slide stop detent due to some firearm manufacturers not having the plunger pin in the same locations. (EX: Older Para and Caspian setups). Creating this detent will prevent the slide lock from being engaged by accident.
Not compatible with some CK Arms 2011 Widebody Frames. There is a certain generation of CK frames where the frame pocket has a large radius under the tension pin. The Nitro Fin needs to fit wholly in the STI pocket. So when they changed that inner corner, the Nitro Fin will not slide in.
