Some of the feedback we received from the success of our Instructor Training Safety Barrels was a request for a high vis, inert magazine the same color as our safety barrels.

If your inert training included holster work, the Instructor Training Safety Barrel was not visible while the pistol was in a duty holster or any holster that covered the ejection port.

One solution was to wrap the pistol grip with colored tape the same color as the inert barrel. This was time consuming and costly if your classes are large and run multiple days. In addition, unless an instructor was dedicated to assuring the tape was removed from the grip after inert training, without exception, one or more students would forget to remove the tape. This negated the intended purpose of the tape, which was the correct visual indication of the inert status of the weapon. You could end up with a loaded gun on the range that had a contradictory indication of inert status. Not a good thing.

A better alternative to the tape was an inert magazine somewhat longer than the grip of the pistol. This allows for 360-degree visibility to inert status while the gun is in the holster, for shooters with large hands, or in positions or angles where the inert barrel is not visible to others. The extra length also ensures compatibility with most aftermarket mag wells.

Just like our inert barrels, the Instructor Training Safety Mag is perfect for CCW instructors; Military/LE agency and academy firearms instructors and students; great for teaching fundamentals in a classroom environment; building clearing/CQB/shoot-house training; competitive shooters; dry fire training. Basically, anytime and anywhere a visual indication of inert status is critical.

Note: The Instructor Training Safety Mag is designed to be used in conjunction with Instructor Training Safety Barrel. If the mag is used by itself, it is possible to insert a live round into the chamber by hand with the inert mag in the pistol.
