Weapon Mounted Light Lens Cover

Description

Protect the lens and negate the potentially dangerous effects of unintentional illumination of your weapon mounted light with this simple yet effective lens cover.

Protects the lens from carbon, soot, muzzle brake or comp erosion/abrasion, or other environmentals that can damage your lens or reduce lumens/candela needed downrange. Each cover is precisely fit for each light model based on the bezel diameter to ensure proper function. No generic small/medium/large sizing which affects cover stability or resulting light leakage around the sides in the event of unintentional illumination. There is a tab on one side of the cover that acts as a push point for a fumble free release with wet hands, gloves, etc. The cover is held securely in place with a shock cord. A ranger band is included for initial testing. We recommend only using the ranger band for testing and verification of shock cord tension and placement, then replacing the ranger band with something more secure such as electrical tape, goon tape, or zip ties. The ranger band can be used long term to hold the shock cord in place, but that method will not be as secure as tape or ties. The shock cord can still move a bit with the ranger tab and can affect consistent and proper release.

The shock cord should be adjusted for tension and then secured in the specific location on the flashlight body that allows the cover to release in the preferred direction. This release direction may vary per shooter depending on personal preference, light position on the weapon, other equipment mounted on the weapon such as lasers, suppressors, suppressor covers, etc. Shock cord can be adjusted as tight or as loose as the shooter desires. The pictures only show a few of the shock cord routing options. The pictures illustrate the use of black/yellow electrical tape but goon tape, or zip ties can also be used.

A minimum of 3/8″ clearance is necessary between any portion of the outer diameter of the cover that’s adjacent to the handguard, suppressor, suppressor cover, etc. to ensure proper release.

Available in black and in stock for most popular lights but custom builds or colors (OD Green, Coyote, etc.) are available with delivery within a week. Email chris@cpwsa.com and provide bezel diameter of light and lens cover color desired. There is no extra charge for custom builds.

These mounting and use considerations are extremely important:

A no-brainer but be sure to release the cover immediately upon any weapon deployment, whether you think the weapon mounted light will be needed or not. The exception would be training or live fire range work where the light will not be used. This is where the protective benefits of the cover become obvious.

When used on AR pistols or SBRs, do not sweep yourself when releasing the cover.

Adjust release direction to prevent the cover from blocking view of iron sights.

Ensure there is proper clearance for the cover to release without interference with the handguard, suppressor, suppressor cover, muzzle break, comp, etc.

For hard use or duty guns, when the desired shock cord length, tension, and securement position is achieved with the included ranger band, secure each shock cord to the light body individually with goon tape or black electrical tape as opposed to securing both cords with the ranger band. This is our preferred mounting method. We suggest only using the ranger band for initial testing to determine where to secure each shock cord.

For ease of use, try to secure shock cord where it doesn’t interfere with battery charging or replacement.

Remember that cover release speed and direction is adjustable with both the length and/or tension of each, or both shock cords, in addition to where each shock cord(s) is secured to the light body. The shock cord can be wrapped around the light body for release over or under the light, or looped around the tail cap end of the light with both shock cords on the right or left side of the light body for release to the side.

Since location disclosure is potentially dangerous in some situations, there is no light leakage downrange or through the cover if the light is illuminated with the cover in place. As such, take care to protect against accidental illumination of light that may drain battery and render the light useless when needed.

The cover is made with heat resistant material. However, the cover may show signs of heat deformation if left on a light that generates a significant amount of heat when illuminated for long periods of time.

Obviously, care should be given to not release cover where it will make contact with a hot suppressor as heat deformation in this event is probable.

Provide total care for your tactical light with the addition of the White Sound Defense Light Conditioner. This pairs perfectly with our lens cover.
